Three teams battle for Scotties title
Thompson Rink stages an unlikely come back to win the 1 v 2 page playoff game against the Scott rink.
Down 7-0, after 3 ends, the Thompson rink, from Kamloops, showed some grit by taking 6 points in the next 3 ends and eventually out scoring their opponents by a final score of 11-10. It was sweet revenge for Thompson, after suffering a loss to Scott on the previous night, where Scott stole 2 pts in the extra end to steal a victory. With the win, the Thompson rink has secured a spot in the finals, to take place on Sunday, at 4 pm, at the hosting Coquitlam Curling Club. Meanwhile, the Scott rink will now need a win in the semi finals which will take place on Sunday morning at 11:00 am.
Scott edges into the finals with a narrow 11th end victory but Thompson proves too strong in Finals
Sunday games saw Team Scott come out with a strong game in the morning, as they managed a narrow 11th end win against Diane Gushulak’s rink, that just would not go away without a fight.
However, in the afternoon finals against Thompson, the outcome was not to be as good. Thompson came out firing on all cylinders, while the Scott rink seemed to sputter with too many missed shots. By the 5th end Thomson led 6-2 and then came back, after the break, with a 4 ender in the 6th which effectively sealed the win. The game ended after 8 ends with a final score of 11-3 for Thompson.
A very appreciative crowd attended the game and a big thanks to all the volunteers who helped the club put on a great BC Scotties show.
